Duties include but are not limited to:
- Reading diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals to determine work procedures.
- Plan proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
- Set up and operate machine tools to perform machining functions, such as turning, boring, facing and threading parts.
- Measure and inspect parts to ensure dimensions are within tolerance
- Select proper tooling inserts, speeds, and feeds as necessary and meet the requirements of the part and material being machined.
- Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments.
The right candidate shall have:
- Experience using conventional manual machines such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Own vehicle (our shop and service locations are outside of Roam transit routes).
- Competency in mathematics (trigonometry, fractions, and circular geometry).
- Strong attention to detail and quality control skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- ability to see safety concerns and possible dangers.
- Ability to work independently and with limited instruction.
Alberta Certified Journeyperson Machinist trade ticket is an asset.
